Full Description

Excellent opportunity for a Senior Transport Planner to take up a permanent position with our local authority client based in West Yorkshire.

The Role:
• Working strategically across West Yorkshire Region to provide technical expertise, support, advice and guidance to enable to Council to deliver its responsibilities across a range of transport planning functions.

• Carry out investigations, feasibility studies, prepare concept designs, transportation studies, transport assessments and modelling, sustainable and integrated transport studies of alternative solutions to transport related issues to support a wide range of strategic planning and fund bidding documents.

• Co-ordinate and contribute to the development and delivery of the West Yorkshire Local Transport Plan (LTP) / West Yorkshire Transport Strategy and its Implementation Plans, to other strategic work streams including the West Yorkshire Transport Plan and to various submissions for Government and other external funding streams.

Key Duties:
• Undertake and lead on investigations into potential solutions for a variety of transport related problems and issues preparing feasibility and concept studies / designs of engineering solutions.

• Co-ordinating and leading on the production of Transport Studies including (where appropriate) undertaking transport assessments and modelling assessments.

• Undertake and lead on sustainable and integrated transport studies of alternative solutions to engineering and procurement problems.

• Plan and lead on public and stakeholder engagement and consultation including production of consultation assessment reports.

• Undertake procurement of studies and associated activities appropriate to the role of the transport planning function.

• Provide project management on the development stages of a variety of highway and transportation schemes including casualty reduction, traffic management, integrated/public transport and civil engineering projects for programmes undertaken by the service on behalf of internal and external clients.

To apply you will need to have a degree qualification in a subject related to transport planning and able to demonstrate experience of working with a working in a Transport/Planning environment, ideally with a Local Authority.

The role requires excellent communications skills are essential for this role as you will be required to prepare reports, briefings for members, present information at board meetings, respond to resident and stakeholder queries and prepare supplier specifications/briefs and tender documents. You will ensure your work area is managed in accordance with all relevant policies, legislation and procedures as well as overseeing programme governance, project delivery, research, performance management and reporting.

Our client is offering a salary of £37,300 and they also offer a hybrid working arrangement.
