Full Description

We have a Local Authority client in South London with a very active programme of work and they are looking to hire a Registered Building Inspector (Class 2A-F) to take up a role responsible for determining building control applications of all land uses for buildings up to 20 storeys.

Your duties will encompass all aspects of technical tasks on building control applications; building control enforcement; quality assurance; corporate enquiries and financial support. You will be responsible for record keeping for building control applications to ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Act.

A key aspect of your role will be managing the workload schedule to ensure decisions are made within an 8 week period so it is essential that you have good project management skills and are able to clearly communicate with the customer and Building Control team and follow escalation procedures to the Group Manager when there are issues that require review.

You will make full use of your specialist knowledge to review data systems related to the building safety programme to identify, recommend and influence both the rate of investment and efficiencies in relation to system weaknesses, process gaps and opportunities for further improvement of existing systems (including Uniform) and/or embedding new IT solutions (including Modern Data Platform).

On a daily basis you will work with a range of stakeholders as a representative of the council e.g. LFB, Building Safety Regulator, MHCLG, Department of Levelling Up, Local Authority Partners and you will be providing clear technical advice and guidance to internal teams and individuals.

The role is offered on a contract basis, 3-6 months initially but fully expected to extend, with an hourly rate of at least £45/hr (umbrella) but negotiable for those with experience.

Our client is based very close to London Bridge so transport links are excellent. The role will allow some home working.
