Our client is a Local Authority based in London and they require a Principal Planning Policy Officer to join them for a contract that will initially be offered for 3 months.
In this role you will lead on planning policy and research tasks that enable the successful delivery of the Local Plan and associated Area Action Plans and Supplementary Planning Documents. This means that you will lead on research, data analysis and public consultation in relation to planning policy matters, drafting policy documents and take an active role in responding to planning proposals submitted to the council.
Our Client is progressing their Local Plan through its Examination in Public (EiP) and beyond. This senior-level position is essential to ensure that the Council meets its statutory obligations in preparing, consulting on, and delivering robust planning policies that shape the future development of the borough. The role will be pivotal in providing high-level policy input, managing the Council’s engagement with the Planning Inspectorate, and responding to the complex and evolving requirements of the examination process. The Principal Planning Policy Officer will be responsible for preparing technical evidence, supporting Statements of Common Ground, and liaising with key stakeholders, including the Planning Inspectorate, government agencies, and the local community.
To apply for this role you will need a relevant degree level qualification and, ideally, professional accreditation. Recent experience in a policy planning role writing strategy and policy documents is essential and your knowledge of current planning legislation and guidelines will need to be fully up to date. You will need to be comfortable in a lead role and able to undertake team management duties when necessary.
This contract will initially be offered for 3 months though it could be extended beyond this and the rate offered is £50-£55/hr (inside IR35).
