Our client is a Local Authority based in the East Midlands and they are seeking an experienced Team Leader for their Development Management and Enforcement Officers.
Reporting to the Development Manager, you will have responsibility for delivering the council's statutory responsibilities for the determination of planning applications under the Town and Country Planning Acts and related legislation. This will be achieved through careful management of the planning process at each stage and you will be responsible for delegating and organising work for other team members to ensure delivery in line with the Council's established protocols. As a more senior member of the team you will on occasion be required to represent the Council as an expert witness on all issues involving development applications, pre-applications, Appeals and Public Inquires and in court where necessary.
Applicants for this post must be qualified Town Planners with experience of working at a Team Leader level within a local authority Town Planning Team, and recent experience of complex major development proposals and staff management. Your strong technical knowledge of UK planning legislation will need to be complimented with good management skills and the confidence and ability to direct a team. Critical to this role will be the ability to communicate effectively and to engage in negotiations that can often be sensitive and complex so you will need to be able to engage productively with third parties to develop good relationships.

The post is a contract role which will initially run for 3 months but could be extended and the rate offered is £60/hr Umbrella. This role is inside IR35. Our client offers hybrid working and is open to discussing this with you at interview stage.
