Full Description

Our client is a local authority based in London and they need to appoint an experienced Planning Policy Manager for a 12 month maternity cover contract role.

Our client is looking for a highly organised, self-motivated individual who has a record of delivery in planning policy, plans and good development. Our client is coming to a critical stage of their new Local Plan in regards to the preparation of their site allocations document, so they require an experienced Policy Manger to ensure this piece of work is remains on course and deliver it through an examination in public.

You will lead a team of 4 Policy Officers to ensure that the new Local Plan and associated policy documents meet all statutory requirements alongside any relevant national and Council policies and best practice.

To apply you will need to have a significant level of previous planning policy experience and ideally proven line management experience to be considered. You will need to have a good breadth of knowledge in relation to policy development and you will need a thorough understanding of UK planning legislation. A relevant degree level qualification is essential and ideally you will have professional accreditation.

Critical to this role will be the ability to communicate effectively and to engage in negotiations that can often be sensitive and complex so you will need to be able to engage productively with third parties to develop good relationships that ensure successful development. You will be working with a wide range of stakeholders and can expect to come into contact with elected members, statutory and non-statutory bodies, developers and public stakeholders.

The post is a contract role which will run for 12 months, and our client is open to taking someone on either a fixed term contract basis directly which offers a salary up to £61,347 per annum (and will also come with all the benefits of a permanent employee), or as a contractor on a day rate via an Umbrella company.

Please get in touch for further details including a copy of the JD. Our client is looking for someone who can start ASAP.
