Our client is a local authority in the South West of England seeking an Enforcement Planning Officer:
As a Planning Enforcement Officer, you'll oversee various enforcement cases, ensuring compliance with planning policies. You'll undertake investigations into alleged breaches of planning laws, covering areas such as listed buildings, advertisements, and protected trees. Your role involves making decisions on appropriate actions, from negotiated compliance to prosecution preparation, while also assessing threats to public safety and protecting the environment. You will be expected to competently draft enforcement notices, reports and witness statements as and when required.
We're looking for a Planning Officer with a degree in a relevant field or significant experience in investigative or regulatory roles, along with knowledge of planning practice and legislation. You should have expertise in planning or historic building conservation and post-qualification experience in the public or private sector, including representing an organisation at planning inquiries and managing appeal statements.
