Full Description

Our client, based on a Chanel Island is seeking three qualified and experienced Environmental Health Professionals (EHPs) to join our team for a six-month contract. The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in various areas of environmental health, including but not limited to:

• Housing Regulation (HHSRS)
• Pollution (Statutory Nuisance)
• Food Safety and Standards
• Public Health, including Communicable Disease Control
• Port Health

Location - Work Environment:
• The role will be a hybrid model, requiring a minimum of 60% presence in Jersey and 40% remote home-based work. This could be done in blocks or weekly and is open for discussion to fit with people's circumstances where the business needs can be met.
• Initial induction will include a two-week island block to familiarise the candidate with our operations.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct inspections and investigations related to environmental health areas detailed above and take enforcement action as deemed appropriate to the situation
• Manage a diverse EHP workload in a fast-paced environment.
• Provide excellent customer service and effectively handle difficult situations.
• Utilise IT skills, including competency in Microsoft applications for reporting and experience in using case management systems.

Person Specification for Experienced Environmental Health Professional
Essential Criteria:
• Education: Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent
• EHORB certificate of registration or equivalent
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in environmental health roles, focusing on food safety, pollution control (noise and other statutory nuisance), housing standards and port health.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in using environmental health software and IT systems for data management and reporting.
• Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of relevant legislation and regulations.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to assess situations and implement effective solutions.
• Cases and Investigations: Able to independently undertake case management and associated investigations, ensuring information meets prosecutable standards.

Desirable Criteria:
• Education: MSc/Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Health or equivalent
• Chartered Status: Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEH/REHIS).
• Specialised Training: Additional qualifications in areas such as noise assessment or communicable disease control
• Leadership Skills: Experience leading projects or teams within an environmental health context.
