Full Description

Our client is based in the North East of England and have a 5 month contract on offer for an experienced Building Surveyor to carry out asset condition surveys on a full range of corporate buildings.

Agile and flexible working supported allowing staff to work some days at home and flex their working patterns.

The Role:

Asset condition surveys are becoming an ever increasingly important source of data for our clients. They not only help to inform Planned Preventative Maintenance Programmes but they are also often used by clients to draw down essential funding from Central Government to finance much needed repairs, maintenance and improvements. The type and range of property to be surveyed is varied and includes corporate buildings, leisure buildings, highway depots, schools, libraries, , etc.

You will need to be able to:
Plan and carry out a programme of site surveys in relation to condition, undertaking schedules of condition, dilapidations, measured surveys and defect analysis.
Write reports and calculate remedial costs.
Identify and manage the updating of information and drawings.
Ideally have experience both in building fabric and engineering services and be able to confidently assess condition overall.
Follow and work with quality assurance procedures across projects and services.
Prepare and undertake specifications, drawings risk assessments and contract management for occasional small projects arising.

We are looking for applicants who offer a combination of relevant experience and industry recognised training for the position, demonstrated by;
You will hold (or be working towards) a Professional Chartered Membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), or equivalent in the building sector.
Experience in building fabric and services stock condition surveying.
Knowledge of the Building Regulations, Health & Safety and other relevant construction and building surveying related legislation.
Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and negotiate with all levels of internal and external parties.
